EcoNews: another meteor shower!

August 28th, 2013

Hello GreenZoners,

If you think that the Perseid meteor shower has come and gone, so there is nothing more to watch, you are wrong probably. Potentially good shower is just around the corner. Why “probably” and “potentially”?

Since now till 5th September the Aurigid meteors are coming. They are rarely mentioned in most astronomy guidebooks because they are hardly worth mentioning in any given year. Aurigid outbursts are very infrequent, having been definitively seen on only three occasions: in 1935, 1986, 1994 and 2007.

This year they are expected, so keep trying. Probably the best night to watch them: 31st August/1st September.

Let us know if you notice anything special!
