Famous quote about ecology for Thursday

August 8th, 2013

Hello GreenZoners,

do you know this guy?

Sir Francis Bacon – an English philosopher, statesman, scientist, jurist, orator and author (1561 – 1626).

Why we should remember about him?

As one of his biographers wrote about Bacon’s influence in modern world: “every man who rides in a train, sends a telegram, follows a steam plough, sits in an easy chair, crosses the channel or the Atlantic, eats a good dinner, enjoys a beautiful garden, or undergoes a painless surgical operation, owes him something”.

Bacon even died by contracting pneumonia while studying the effects of freezing on the preservation of meat.

We chose Bacon to our today “Famous quotes about ecology” because of his sentence:

We cannot command Nature except by obeying her.

That is one of the most important for ecology and environment statements ever.
