IKEA – not so eco any more?

February 25th, 2014

Some time ago we were talking here about very green decision of food giant Kellogg’s (HERE). Today we have a news about big company as well, unfortunately this time it is not a good news.

IKEA, furniture giant, was cutting down 600-year-old trees in Karelia, Russia! That’s really sad, cause IKEA seems to be such a green and eco brand. Breaking news.

The Forest Stewardship Council, which promotes the responsible management of the world’s woodlands, says the wood IKEA cuts from forest in Karelia isn’t being harvested sustainably.

IKEA lost forestry stewardship certificate for felling protected woodland. It won’t help trees, unfortunately.
