Hello Greenzoners, most of you have probably seen or heard about wind power plants. Yes, these big, white windmills, for some beautiful, for others ugly and destroying the landscape. 😉

Anyway, here are some facts about wind power plants you may not have known 😀

– the most efficient power farm in the world is Alta Wind Energy Center (USA), producing over 1020 Mega Watts of energy

-the higher plant and the bigger turbine help producing more energy, but only in specific areas

-first known example of using wind power is ancient Mesopotamia (windmills used to pump water)

-first power-generating turbines were produced by the Soviets in 1931 (they could produce only 100 Watts of energy)

-the wind turbines do not scare or disturb animals living nearby

-wind turbines require wind with a speed at least 16km/h

And for the end, a little riddle – what country has the biggest amount of wind farms installed? Hint – United States are on number 2. 😉
