Effects of climate change

July 3rd, 2014

Hello Greenzoners! Do you remember about big ecological problems? If not just click here. Worldwide many picturesque bays which are washing the breath are in a breast. However we must make ourselves aware, that part from them are threatened with the caused climate change, which no, not at all are advantageous for them.

Climate change

June 2nd, 2013

So tell us Greenzoners, what was the best event that happened recently on Greenzoner? What’s your favourite among all the new things we introduced? 😉 Which contests and prizes?

Hello Greenzoners! Some of you know, and some of you probably don’t know (nothing to be ashamed of, don’t worry 😉 ), one of the main causes of air pollution is burning wood and coal in cookstoves in the process of preparing food.

Many people use more modern technologies like gas or electric cookers, but everyone can afford them or are available to anyone.
There were designs of special, “clean” cookstoves, trying to reduce the amount of pollution, but they had no effect, unfortunately.

Recently however, a group of students discovered an interesting way to vastly reduce the amount of pollution in our households. (more…)

Hello Greenzoners!
New contests ahead, about which you will learn very soon. 🙂
They will take place not only on – but also on Facebook and other websites. Most active users and contest winners will be rewarded. 😀

The purpose of our actions is promoting ecology on the Internet, educating each other about important, related issues. We invite everyone to join us and create pro-eco mentality. (more…)

According to recently published articles in scientific press, overall climate change caused coral reef to collapse during last few thousands of years. Because of naturally shifting climate zones, the growth of reef in the eastern Pacific ceased for around 2,500 years. But because of the increasing amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, this climatic change gets faster, which causes reefs to decay faster than usual.
Coral reef
This is the result of research done using small aluminium pipes stuck into dead coral reef and then by examining the geological history of the reef.

Now the reefs at coasts of Panama are slowly disappearing. Eologists say, that climate changing often destroys reefs, but since industrial waste got into atmosphere and the ocean, this collapse will come faster and will be more devastative, without natural balance.
Remember that coral reefs are home of many different species of underwater life.
Even though they are being damaged, ecologists stay optimistic. “Coral reefs used to prove that they are resilient and can endure many different environmental ups and downs“, they say.

Anyone volunteer to help saving the reef? 😉

Did you, Greenzoners, know how environment responses to the climate changes?
There was a new scientific breakthrough in recent studies concerning global warming. Plants, especially flowers, were considered “stable” and non-reacting to the global warming. Recently though, researchers at UC Santa Barbara’s National Center for Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS) discovered, that flowers are actually affected by slowly progressing global warming.
